Hi Reader, After writing nearly 300 HD Your Biz - Catalyst Reports, the 3 most common things people wished to have in their businesses were as follows.
Let's Debunk the first one: The reality is that in business, the degree to which you want to be involved in the selling process is directly correlated to how robust your business ecosystem must be. i.e., if you don't want to have conversion conversations, you need to have a very robust business ecosystem, aka you need to market yourself consistently and deliver value on the regular and get loads of traffic. Conversely, if you were open to having conversion conversations, you don't necessarily need a robust business ecosystem. Now, there are exceptions to this, but it's pretty universal. Put simply, if you don't want to have to "sell," you need to get a lot of traffic, which typically comes in the form of marketing. I believe this has become a cultural norm in the online space that in order to be successful, you have to have a course or a group program. That isn't the case. And quite frankly, by design, it's not for most of us. While people can and still will be successful in this model, it is going to require a higher degree of depth, mastery, and experience in order to be successful in the future. The people who are just one step ahead are going to fall away. Those who thrive in this model will need to create an immersive experience tailored to the human design of the person engaging in the course. Individualized support will be necessary, which can come in the form of one-to-one or by leveraging an LLM like Synergy, my HD Your Biz Chatbot trained on the entirety of my knowledge base. Regardless of the business model, course, toolkit, widget, or coaching, there is a correlation between sales, marketing, traffic, and expectations. How do you want to sell? One-to-one, webinar, minimalist with a sales page only. If you want to market, what ecosystem do you want to market in? The amount of traffic and engagement you receive. All of these aspects are important to consider when you think about the business model and the client journey. If you want to sell a widget, on autopilot, your primary job is marketing, and your secondary job is customer service. If you want to sell coaching by having a get-to-know-you call, your primary job is relationships, and your secondary job is marketing. Every single business model you choose has some form of these trade-offs. If you do this, then you need to consider this. It is important to understand this when selecting a business model. How robust a business ecosystem do I need in order to hit my goals? Let's dive into number 2 - Lazy mornings where they didn't have a meeting and could begin their day at their own pace. This one is probably the easiest of the three to address - Starting two weeks from today, adjust your schedule to accommodate this spaciousness into your life. You work for yourself. You get to choose the schedule. There are no rules that say that if it is between 9-5, we must work as entrepreneurs. But the key here is you have to be disciplined to uphold the boundary. One of the best things I did for myself was create call days. This made it easier for me to prep for my week, balance my energy, and avoid having to switch gears constantly between creation (one of the primary parts of my work) and teaching/delivery. Define your schedule and don't let others determine when and how you should work. Challenge the narrative and question, who says I have to work during these times? Let's dive into number 3 - Less time creating content and more time creating deliverables for clients while working only 3 days a week. I would contend that if you enjoy making deliverables content is no different. In fact, take your deliverables, simplify them and leverage them as content. I don't know where this belief comes from but it is a limiting belief that creating content needs to be some overly complex process and it all needs to be original. If you enjoy making deliverables, it is time to learn how to repurpose those or perhaps approach them with a different marketing angle. Both are forms of content creation - the delivery is a bit different. The good news is that there are lots of tools to support you in coming up with new marketing angles, including Synergy, my HD Your Biz Chatbot. Content creation is a necessary part of building a business, and yet it is often one of the first things clients want to outsource to either another human or a chatbot. Yet, it is our literal connection to the people who buy from us. Think of content creation as education. How can I educate my ideal client to work with? What do they need to hear in order to say yes to me? How can I approach it in a way that speaks to them without injecting too much of my techno/expertise jargon? But when I read through the responses, what I hear is that people want businesses that support their lifestyle. They want businesses that feel good. They want to do work that is meaningful, impactful, and changes lives. They want to give themselves and their family a joy-filled life. And they are tired of being sold a formula to make it work. Tired of running on a never ending treadmill. The business world is in transition. One-size-fits-all formulas are going extinct. The time is now to adapt. Your Offer. Your Business Model. Your Client Journey. Your Marketing. How do you sell? I can see the fork in the road is nearing. Adapt. Or Risk going extinct. We must stop shrinking ourselves into businesses that no longer fit us for the world that is evolving. We must challenge our thinking about how business is done and the belief that we have to follow a certain formula. I believe businesses of the future will:
In order to navigate that transition, or as I like to say, straddle season, we need to understand the correlation between our business ecosystem robustness realities vs. goals and our business model. In order to navigate this straddle season between the old formulaic world and the new world of Whole Self Business, we may need to
The only way to navigate building a business in the new world is through. There are no shortcuts, quick fixes, or hacks. There is no trend to jump on because you aren't a trend. The only way is to do the work and grow through it. Hi Reader, I had a different email written to go out today…but instead I'm going to talk about a few transits. I am not one to run my days by the transits. I don't typically look ahead at what is coming UNLESS I start to notice some patterns…. Usually, my youngest child has an epic meltdown - Gate 36 in transit. My Voxer is flooded with lots of big emotions - usually the transits have the collective with a defined solar plexus. Clients are usually overwhelmed, and the head center is defined....
Hi Reader, Yesterday, I was searching for something in my TBO (to be organized) folder on my laptop. Basically, the graveyard where screenshots and unused files go to die a slow death before I put them in the trash can. And look what I found….this atrocious thing…. This was the cover that my publisher wanted me to use for my first book. This was back in early 2023, so almost three years ago now… Awful, isn't it? Looks like a crime mystery novel or something Dale Carnegie would write. What's...
